Stuthoff - And Cosmos From Ashes To Dust

2012/07/05 filed under /metal

Stuthoff was a camp at the beginning designed for extermination of Polish elites.

... can be found at Wikipedia. Unlike the camp, this post is about the Greek band Stuthoff And their latest release "And Cosmos From Ashes To Dust".

These Greek guys probably cannot be found at one of the many awesome beaches, for they play some dark, grim and cold black metal. Quite enjoyable when you look outside and it's snowing ;-)

The riffs go on and on, something I tend to like since my introduction with Hate Forest

The production is pretty lo-fi, yet not as crappy as other bands. This production actually gives you a dark feeling, where with other lo-fi black metal bands you will have to spend ages to find out what actually is played and with what instruments.

Good black metal for those dark days before (ermm... and after) christmas!

The Bereaved - Darkened Silhouette

This album is a must have for At the Gates, Detonation and Sins of Omission fans. Melodic Swedish Death Metal, lovely!

Under Threat - Deathmosphere

2012/07/05 filed under /metal

Under Threat hails from Colombia (yeah, probably the neighbours of Shakira ;-), but if you told me the lived right next door to members of At the Gates, In Flames and The Crown, I'd believe you too. This death metal sounds so Swedish that by delivering this album, to me, the guys deserve a Swedish passport.

It's like putting on a Gothenburg sounding band, yet non of the new-style crap that In Flames throws at you. No, just At the Gates drum riffs with skilled and melodic riffs, just like the good old times.

Just buy the album if you're into melodic death without "clean" vocals. But be careful with this in your car stereo, it will make you break the speed limit...

Glittertind - Til Dovre Faller

2012/07/05 filed under /metal

I'm not too fond of so called Viking metal, but Glittertind is different. This one man's project is more folkish than metal and the songs are just going to stick in your head forever. Always nice to have some cheerful music after hours of depressing black metal.

Just listen to this CD 100 times. After that, you want more. It's addictive!

In Aeternum - Forever Blasphemy

2012/07/05 filed under /metal

Finally! After quite some searching, I found this little gem and now it's mine! This CD just blows your head off. Great vocals, great recording, just pure metal as metal should be!

I know, it's an "old" album (1999), but I just didn't get it up until now. I also know the band has released more albums, but they just can't top this killer album again, although maybe the new one that is scheduled to be released on March 21st (Agonia Records)
