National Day of Slayer

2006/04/28 filed under /web

As posted before, I will get married in my country at June 6, 2006. Of course it's easy to remember that date (06-06-06, or 666). But like us, many other events are planned for that nice looking date.

Yesterday, I was informed that it'd also be the National Day of Slayer. From the website:

6.6.06 isn't a date that comes around very often (once per century, to be exact), and while plenty of stupid horror movies and terrible albums will be released for the hype value of the day that bears "the number of the beast", we here at NDoS decided that this would be a perfect day for Hessians across the country to come together and engage in something upon which we can all agree - listening to Slayer!

The limited themselves to their own soil, the USA (it is after all the national day of Slayer). I wonder if the UK will make it the National Day of Iron Maiden.

Norway and Sweden can have a battle over what band they'll have to listen too, for there are numerous metal bands out there that would qualify. Regardless of what national day they choose, Entombed (of Sweden) will release their upcoming album on that day too.

So yes, a lot will happen and I'm not sure what music I'll have to play at my wedding now. I vote for Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast ;-)

Keep of Kalessin - Armada

2006/04/26 filed under /metal

Wow, this album is awesome. Think of a mixture of a lot of Scandinavian bands. Satyricon, Borknagar, with the skills of Children of Boredom.

The album is packed with songs that will blast through your speakers. A little overproduced maybe, but still nice! Great guitar riffs, fast drums, nice!

Drudkh - Blood In Our Wells

Ukrainian drama. Cold, sad and dragging. That's how I'd like to describe this album. The epic songs will drag you through misery and melancholy...

The previous albums of Drudkh I already loved, yet this one is no less good than the other ones, maybe even better. Definitely awesome! Go buy it, drive to a cold misty forest, put the CD in you car stereo and try to resist crying and committing suicide!

Server back online!

2006/04/17 filed under /personal

Finally, this server is back online! For some reason, my poor little server feels lonely when I travel half across the globe and breaks down in tears. Last year, the motherboard got fried during my absence and this year, the hard disk gave me problems, not even two days after my departure.

Luckily it turned out to be rather easy to solve. For some unknown reason, the cable to the HDD came somewhat loose, resulting in a lot of IO errors. Hardware sucks (as Joffie will agree to) ...

Since I recently moved to a new house, I now finally got my home LAN completely setup again too. It took me too long to get the WiFi part to work, thanks to an annoying Linksys WRK54G router (avoid like the plague!!!). The connection would drop every two minutes.

Now I reinstalled my good old Asus router with D-Link (yeah I know) AP behind it and it works somewhat stable.
