Server back online!
2006/04/17 filed under /personalFinally, this server is back online! For some reason, my poor little server feels lonely when I travel half across the globe and breaks down in tears. Last year, the motherboard got fried during my absence and this year, the hard disk gave me problems, not even two days after my departure.
Luckily it turned out to be rather easy to solve. For some unknown reason, the cable to the HDD came somewhat loose, resulting in a lot of IO errors. Hardware sucks (as Joffie will agree to) ...
Since I recently moved to a new house, I now finally got my home LAN completely setup again too. It took me too long to get the WiFi part to work, thanks to an annoying Linksys WRK54G router (avoid like the plague!!!). The connection would drop every two minutes.
Now I reinstalled my good old Asus router with D-Link (yeah I know) AP behind it and it works somewhat stable.
